Symposium: “Forty Years of Italian American Civil Service Employment in New York City and New York State”

This symposium has its roots in the research and subsequent publication of Forty Years of Italian American Civil Service Employment in New York City and New York State (New York: John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, 2015), an extensive study authored by Vincenzo Milione, Itala Pelizzoli, and Carmine Pizzirusso. The study analyzes the percentage of Italian Americans in New York State and New York City occupations, including Management and Professional, Service, and Skilled and Unskilled government employment. Panelists from the NYS Assembly and Senate, the National Council for Columbia Associations in Civil Service, the Murphy Workers Education and Labor Studies Institute, the National Organization of Italian American Women, and the Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations will join the three authors. Anthony Julian Tamburri, Dean of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, will moderate the event.
