TV & Media

For decades, the Calandra Institute has featured comprehensive video coverage of Italian American and Italian diaspora events, conferences, colloquiums, and conversations. Recently our TV and video production has of necessity diversified. With the advent of the pandemic, we have added programming, in part to stand in for our regular in-person public programs that were impossible to hold in person during this time, and in part to take advantage of the ease and ubiquity of video conversations over Zoom to explore some of the latest areas of academic and community interest.

Italics: Television for the Italian American Experience

This is a collection of episodes of our cable TV show, hosted by Anthony J. Tamburri, Dean of the Calandra Institute, bringing the best of the Italian American community to your home each month on CUNY-TV, Spectrum Ch.75 and RCN, Ch.77 in New York City.

These videos offer a wide range of coverage for special events, academic presentations, our annual conference sessions, longer interview segments from the Italics TV show broadcasts, and other comprehensive video content that the Institute documents as a matter of course because of its intrinsic interest to the community (parades; selections from the Institute’s in-person public programming, etc.).
