Demographics, Research, and Analysis
October is Italian Heritage and Culture Month! There is much to be understood about how Italians have adapted to becoming Americans, and, in turn, how America has changed thanks to the immigration of Italians. As the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute continues with its Italian Diasporas: Data Snapshot project in demographics, research, and data analysis, the aim is to provide information regarding a variety of characteristics related to the Italian diaspora addressing the issues of assimilation and accommodation.
This month the data analysis goes into greater detail to follow up on September’s Data Snapshot looking at academic majors that college students pursue. This month the matter of occupations is explored more broadly to include all classes of employment. The graphs again look at Occupations and now included are Class of Worker and Income with attention to Italian American versus Non-Italian American, Gender, Personal Income, and Gender Gaps.
The Institute invites you to share suggestions for future snapshots and reports.
